Simulated project reflection(report)

Introduction:
The collaborative project that I participated in involved the creation of an animation. My role was to design the characters, which I suggested during our first meeting. This report will cover my experience in the project, including my tasks, feedback, performance, challenges, and skills learned.

Task Assignment:
I was assigned the role of character design, which I was happy to take on since it is my strength. Vee, the project leader, was glad to give me this task since it was not her strong suit.

Task Completion and Feedback:
I completed my task, and feedback mostly centered around whether the characters’ appearance fit the story. Vee wanted a girl who looked athletic and provided me with valuable reference pictures to make more precise adjustments to the details. In the end, I was able to achieve the desired effect.

Performance:
I performed well in my role as a character designer since it is my strength, which made the project task easy.

Areas for Improvement:
I need to work on my communication skills since I am used to working alone on animations, and it requires me to be meticulous in every aspect. Efficient teamwork could improve the production rate.

Role Comparison:
My role as a character designer is equivalent to the core role of pre-production in animation.

Enjoyment:
I enjoyed the experience, and I learned a lot, not just in terms of communication, but also some tips and tricks in character design.

Successful Aspects:
One successful aspect of the collaboration was sharing reference materials and photos with Vee, which allowed me to design different types of athletic clothes, shoes, and color combinations, making the process enjoyable.

Challenges:
The most significant challenge I faced was being patient with Vee’s feedback and making adjustments to my work until it satisfied her. I realized that I was working for her project and not myself, and I had to be flexible and adaptable.

New Skills Learned:
The project taught me to communicate more efficiently and effectively, which is essential in teamwork.

Application of Previous Knowledge:
In the first week, I explored the silhouette of the main character and her cat by designing three different versions of athletic girls and three types of cats with different body shapes. In the second week, I drew the turnarounds of the approved character designs and experimented with different color combinations.
